Daddy-Daughter Fly Fishing Trip
Teton Valley Lodge in Driggs, Idaho
June 30 to July 4, 2004
I was introduced to fly fishing by my Grandfather Hallahan
who took me as young boy to the Egypt Mill Club in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.
Later his son (my uncle and namesake) included me in family trips
to Grant's Kennebago Camps in northwestern Maine
where we fished for trout and landlocked salmon
either by boat on the lake or by wading along the nearby stream.
This trip would be different: using unmotorized McKenzie boats
manned by knowledgeable guides, Jennifer and I floated from point to point
down the picturesque Snake and Teton Rivers,
casting our flies for elusive and beautiful cutthroat and rainbow trout.
Each morning we headed out at the civilized hour
of nine o'clock for a glorious day of fishing.
Careful navigation down the steep access road
led to unparalleled fishing on the Lower Narrows of the Teton River.
And here was our launch area the day we fished
the Lower South Fork of the Snake River.
