Christmas 2014

With Jennifer home, the holidays are always special

Juniper greens, pine cones, fairy lights, and illuminated shotgun shells
decorated the hand-hewn log mantel.

This year I went back to an old favorite, an 8+ foot Fraser fir.

Susan and Jennifer here at the barn for our traditional Christmas eve dinner.

Christmas dinner at my nephew's home. Stan and Jen were wonderful hosts, and by any measure, the evening was a complete success.

(Standing, left to right: family friends Sara and Jolene; my grandnephew Thomas Ward; his father, Tad; my nephew's wife, Jen Bowers;
my brother, Stan; his son and namesake, Stan IV; my niece, Barbara Ward; my daughter, Jennifer; my sister-in-law, Barbara; yours truly.
Seated, left to right: Marilyn Hicks, Jen's mother; Quintin Bowers, my grandnephew (okay, I realize he's standing);
Bridget Bowers, Quintin's sister; and Susan Bowers, Jennifer's mom.)

As she has for the past several years, Susan hosted a cookie-making party for Thomas, Quintin, and Bridget at her apartment.
There were also some early Christmas gifts proffered and opened.

Each year Jennifer and I pose for our traditional Christmas portrait. Here's the one for 2014.
